The Harmonica has always been associated with the Blues as it allows the player to play the chords and a melody in a single key. Back in the early 20th Century the Harmonica (aka Mouth Organ/Harp) was thought of as a toy and an instrument for the poor- which is probably why so many Black migrants started using it, cheap to buy and easy to carry in your pocket it was going to catch on!.
